Bactrian camels are another attraction. Native to the steppes of central Asia, the Bactrian camel has two humps, in contrast to the single-humped camels found in Rajasthan and other parts of India. Today, we get up early morning visit to Diskit monastery (if not visited before) and have wonderful view of Nubra valley. Later drive to Pangong Lake via Shayok .Enjoy the turquoise colour panoramic lake and the magnificent mountains and landscapes which will leave you awestruck. Later drive back to Leh by visiting Thiksey monasteries, Rancho school and Shay Palace.
• Thiksey Monastery - It is the finest example of Ladakhi architecture. It is a massive twelve storey monastery complex with a number of stupas, statues, Thankas and wall paintings. There is also a large pillar engraved with the Buddha's teachings. In its museum many sacred items besides a royal sword among other precious objects are on display. • Shey Monastery – It is located at a solitary hillock at a distance of 15 km away south of Leh. This monastery is also called Shey Palace. Main attraction in Shey Monastery is twelve feet Shakyamuni Buddha's statue.
